Fall Festival

By Susu Alkhalili

The annual Fall Festival run by Student Council is always a fun time for everyone! This year’s fall festival was beyond awesome. The night was filled with food, desserts, games, a bonfire, and scary stories.
The lawn was decorated with items that made it more spooky. These items included a fog machine, dry ice, and a couple skulls. The mood was set with the awesome music, causing everyone to get hyped up.
The main highlight of the festival had to be the food. With Mr. Mumford and Rollie’s chillies, Mr. Mumford and Dr. Barnes’ desserts, hot dogs, cornbread, hot chocolate and apple cider, the food was delicious. Some of the cupcakes were decorated with mini toy knives and spiders, and red frosting for blood, which really got everyone excited for Halloween.
For the first 1-2 hours or so, students talked, ate, walked around, and played games. Some played Kan Jam and Cornhole, while others played soccer or basketball. Meanwhile, Rollie walked around with a scary mask and scared a lot of the kids there. For the remaining hour, students gathered around the bonfire, and talked while making s’mores and keeping warm. During this time, Mr. Mumford began to tell his scary stories, many of them about his past experiences or ones that people have told him. Some were about the MV campus and the history of Maumee Valley. After a while, he gave a chance for our own fellow students to tell a few scary stories themselves.
Overall, the fall festival was a success and brought together the Maumee Valley Upper School once again. I encourage those who couldn’t make it this year to come next year, and have fun with us!
